Education in the field
Join me, Ross Long, for an unforgettable photography workshop on the wild and remote Kangaroo Island, one of Australia's most remarkable natural destinations. This exclusive experience is designed to elevate your photography while immersing you in the island’s diverse wildlife and rugged beauty.
Together, we'll photograph iconic species like Australian sea lions, fur seals, koalas, kangaroos, echidnas, and the elusive glossy black cockatoo, while exploring some of my favourite coastal locations and nature reserves. From golden-hour landscapes to up-close wildlife moments, you'll learn how to ethically capture both land and underwater scenes with expert guidance.
With tailored education for all skill levels, this workshop covers everything from field techniques and camera settings to storytelling, wildlife interaction, and post-production editing. You'll leave not only with a stunning portfolio but also a deeper connection to nature and the knowledge to continue growing your craft.
This is more than just a photography trip—it's a chance to slow down, observe, learn, and create alongside a like-minded group in one of the most breathtaking environments on Earth.
Who is This For?
This workshop is designed for aspiring and experienced photographers who are passionate about honing their skills in a small, intimate setting. It’s perfect for those who value personalised guidance and wish to deepen their connection with nature while respecting its delicate balance. This experience ensures minimal environmental impact, particularly in preserving the fragile journey of the wildlife that call this island home. Whether you’re looking to improve your technical abilities or capture meaningful, nature-inspired stories, this workshop offers the perfect blend of education, creativity, and environmental mindfulness.
The split of the workshop will be between on land photographing and underwater. This is the perfect opportunity to get your first experience of photographing underwater if you haven't yet as we will be onboard a private boat that will take us to the dolphins that sit in only 3m-4m of water. I will have action cameras that you can use if you do not yet have your own.
